Foundry and Ball Mill Galleries

Adapted from disused workshops of the Jingdezhen Ceramic Machinery Factory, the Foundry and Ball Mill Galleries respond differently to the character of each industrial structure. The Foundry retains its brick walls and timber roof trusses, supplemented by a lightweight timber entrance pavilion. Within the larger Ball Mill workshop, a new two-story exhibition volume was inserted. Crane beams, concrete columns, and original equipment remain exposed. Galleries, studios, and workspaces coexist within the adapted buildings, bringing new cultural functions into direct contact with the material record of production.
