Pengjia Alley Compound

Adjacent to the Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln archaeological site, Pengjia Alley combines ceramic workshops, residences, shops, and courtyards. Its principal courtyard layouts, intact timber frames, walls, alleys, and workshop remains were preserved. Slender steel frames and modern services were inserted where the historic fabric could not meet contemporary requirements. The additions remain distinct while establishing a clear architectural dialogue with the existing structures. Returned to use for craft, culture, dining, and commerce, the project received recognition from UNESCO and RIBA.
