Guangxingli Compound

Guangxingli is Qingdao's largest Liyuan courtyard complex, located beside the former German concession. A holistic conservation approach addresses the entire residential block, including its courtyards, buildings, and streetscapes. Original brick walls, timber frames, paving, gate decorations, and courtyard spaces were restored and reused. Selective structural reinforcement and fire-safety upgrades allow the historic fabric to support contemporary occupation. The central courtyard hosts exhibitions and community events, while renovated street facades accommodate public activities for residents and visitors.
